You can take tutorials and add-ons to in addition to your
workshop if you wish to get even more out of your Getaway experience.

Tutorial in Prose
Saturday & Sunday starting at 4:40 pm
Prose tutorials offer a constructive critique on a work in progress, manuscript, essay, or story that you're not sharing in
your workshop. These one-on-one-sessions last twenty minutes each.
You have the option of requesting a tutorial with your
workshop leader to get one-on-one feedback on the topic of
your choosing, such as crafting a strong book proposal. Either way, be ready to submit your piece
a week or so after you register
(Up to 15 pages
double-spaced with 1" margins and a 12 point font plus a 1
page synopsis).
There is a $100 fee for each Tutorial in Prose you add-on. Open to
all participants, regardless of what workshop you are taking.
Tutorial in Poetry
Saturday & Sunday starting at 4:40 pm
Poetry tutorials offer a constructive critique on a poem in
progress that you're not sharing in your workshop. These
one-on-one-sessions last twenty minutes each. Your tuition in a
Poetry Writing workshop (Regular or Advanced) includes a tutorial,
and you're welcome to add-on an additional one if you'd like.
There is a $75 fee
for each Tutorial in Poetry you add-on. Open to
all participants, regardless of what workshop you are taking.
Friday Poetry Workshop
Algonquin-style Poetry Workshop -

Friday afternoon, 3:30-6:30 pm
Want to get an early start on the Getaway? Join BJ Ward on Friday
afternoon in this Algonquin-style soirée for lively discussion and
a raucous good time. Oh, and feedback on your work too. The fee
includes your first two drinks, so no matter the quality of what you
bring to the workshop, you'll leave with a good buzz. Bring 11
copies of a poem in progress (30 line maximum). $100 includes two
drinks; cash bar available for additional drinks. Open to all
participants, regardless of what workshop you are taking.

Add-on for
Advanced Poetry Writing Participants
Takes place during your regular workshop session
Experienced poets are invited to work with our Special Guests during the
workshop sessions on Saturday or Sunday afternoon or Monday
morning. Bring a poem in progress (30 line maximum) or the
day's assignment to be critiqued. Enrollment is on a
first-come, first-served basis and is limited to one of
these intensive sessions with each Special Guest. There
is a $100 surcharge for each add-on session which is limited to 10
participants.
