being offered for the 2011 Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway! They are being funded by
the Jan-ai Scholarship Fund,
Toni Brown Memorial Scholarship,
Murphy Writing Seminars
and
The Grand Hotel.
We have two different categories of scholarships available,
for individuals 31 and over and
for those 30 and under.

The Winter Getaway is not your typical writers' conference.
Energize your writing with challenging and supportive workshops
that focus on starting new material. Advance your craft with
feedback from our award-winning faculty including Pulitzer Prize winners. Choose from
workshops in short story, novel, YA market, creative
nonfiction, memoir, poetry, song writing & more.
One
scholarship available for the 2011 Getaway
Deadline: Applications must be received by
November 8, 2010
This scholarship will be awarded to a poet or writer who is a first-time
Getaway participant and is 31 or over as of January 14, 2011.
First Place (One recipient)
This scholarship covers tuition and a double room package (3
nights accommodation in a shared room, 3 breakfasts and 3
lunches). The recipient will only need to pay for transportation and dinners.

Four
scholarships available for the 2011 Getaway
Deadline:
Applications must be received by December 1, 2010
The scholarships will be awarded to young poets, writers or
song writers/musicians who are first-time Getaway participants
and residents of NJ, NY or PA between the ages of 18 - 30 as of
January 14, 2011.
First Place (One recipient)
This scholarship covers tuition, a quad room package (3
nights accommodation in a shared room, 3 breakfasts and 3
lunches) and some "walking around money." The recipient will only need to pay for transportation and dinners.

Second Place (One recipient)
This scholarship covers tuition and a quad room package (3
nights accommodation in a shared room with 3 other individuals, 3 breakfasts and 3
lunches). The recipient will only need to pay for transportation and dinners.
Funded by the Jan-ai Scholarship Fund, The Grand Hotel
and Murphy Writing Seminars
Honorable Mentions (Two recipients)
This scholarship covers partial tuition and a quad room
package (3 nights accommodation in a shared room with 3 other
individuals, 3 breakfasts
and 3 lunches). Each recipient will only need to pay $100 toward
their tuition to attend, as well as for transportation and
dinners.

A panel of judges will review the submissions blindly and make
their selections based on a combination of merit and need.

The Jan-ai Scholarship Fund commemorates the life and untimely death of young writer, poet, and photographer, Jennifer Cakert (1980 - 2006).
The Toni Brown Memorial Scholarship
celebrates the life of and commemorates untimely death of poet and
Winter Getaway Faculty Member Toni Brown. Support for this
scholarship is provided by the faculty
and staff of the Winter Getaway.
Murphy Writing Seminars,
the Winter Getaway's parent company, offers challenging and
supportive workshops and resources for poets, writers and
teachers.
The Grand Hotel has been the Winter Getaway's home
since it began in 1994. Located along the beachfront in Cape May,
The Grand is the
largest hotel and convention center
south of Atlantic City.
