Partners
Why is the Winter Getaway seeking partners?
We love our writers and work hard to keep registration fees as low as possible.
The cost of producing an event like the Winter Getaway is substantial. Other writing conferences have financial backing from large endowments; the Winter Getaway, however, is entirely participant-funded. This means that participant registration fees are the only funds we receive to pay for all expenses.
Unlike other arts organizations that are funded by their parent university, Murphy Writing does not receive funds from Stockton to pay for its programming or operations.
As expenses increase, we are welcoming support from individuals and organizations alike so we can continue facilitating the high quality of the Winter Getaway at a reasonable price.
How can I (or my organization) become a partner?
Be creative! We will consider all offers to support any portion of the Winter Getaway.
For example: You can underwrite a scholarship for writers in need; pay for a talented teacher to lead a workshop and stay at Seaview; or sponsor our event space, A/V, the Getaway Bookstore, yoga, mealtimes, the Disco or any other scheduled events, like our MLK program or “Meet, Greet & Ask.” You could even supply the stash for our highly-coveted bags of chocolate.
Email murphywriting@stockton.edu to ask how you can become a Winter Getaway partner.

2024 Partners
Noyes Museum of Art
We are thrilled that our friends at the Noyes Museum of Art will partner with us to install an exhibit in Seaview’s art gallery at the 2024 Winter Getaway.
Stockton Center on Successful Aging
SCOSA will provide funding for five tuition scholarships this year. We are so thankful that they’re contributing to our goal of offering affordable programming for writers in need.
Alliance Heritage Center / South Jersey Culture and History Center
Curious about the area’s history? We are grateful that the Alliance Heritage Center and the South Jersey Culture and History Center of Stockton University will partner with us to dedicate a special section of the Getaway Bookstore to southern NJ.
Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum
The Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum will offer up some local history books for you to enjoy at the Getaway Bookstore. If you’re not from the area and are just learning about this museum, please check it out if you love aviation. It’s located inside a real World War II hangar.
Tuckerton Seaport & Baymen’s Museum
The Tuckerton Seaport & Baymen’s Museum will spice up the Getaway Bookstore with some NJ coastal culture books. If you’re interested in coastal history, you’ll want to visit them sometime soon!
Realtor David Birnbaum, based in Williamstown, NJ, would love to help you sell or buy your home. If you’re looking to move, be sure to check out his webpage.
The goal is simple: to provide a forum to talk about, discover and promote great books. Visit their store in Wayne, PA or shop online.
Fantasy Island Amusement Park
Boasting 18 amusement rides, over a dozen boardwalk games, an arcade, boardwalk grille, a classic carousel, private parties and so much more, Fantasy Island is a clean, safe amusement park that is fun for people of all ages.
We would love to put you on this list! Email murphywriting@stockton.edu to see how you can help support the Winter Getaway.
“Writing can be solitary and lonely. The Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway is like entering a special world. Novice or experienced, young or old, outgoing or shy, everyone can find their space to write and celebrate humanity.”
