New for 2022 Winter Getaway

September 13, 2021 BY Taylor Coyle

The 28th Annual Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway, a supportive, participant-focused writers’ conference, will take place January 14-17, 2022. Here are some of the things we’re most excited about this year:

The “Poetry Circus”

This is the same Winter Getaway poetry workshop “re-PETERs” know and love, with a new name to emphasize its unique and playful spirit. You may remember this workshop as “Advanced Poetry” or “Poetry Workshop.” Peter will still be the ringleader, offering prompts and direction each morning.

Patrick RosalSpecial Guest for 2022

We’re thrilled that award-winning writer Patrick Rosal will join us as a Special Guest, hosting sessions as part of the Poetry Circus and offering a featured reading on Sunday night. There are limited seats in Patrick’s sessions, so secure yours asap.

New Faculty

In addition to reuniting with some of our long-standing Getaway faculty, we have new faculty to welcome, including:

Poets

  1. Roberto Carlos Garcia
  2. Vincent Toro

Prose Writers

  1. Krys Malcolm Belc
  2. R.G. Evans
  3. L M Feldman
  4. Jesse Washington

Sliding Scale Tuition + Writer-in-Residence Packages

We’re thrilled to be able to offer the sliding scale tuition system we established for our online programs for the in-person Winter Getaway this year. We are also excited to announce our Writer-in-Residence Package option for those who do not wish to take a workshop.

Friday Dessert Reception

We are foregoing more traditional hors d’oeuvres for a dessert reception on Friday night before our Opening Program. We have always encouraged eating dinner beforehand if you have a hearty appetite, so be sure to take our advice this year! We look forward to seeing you in January.

"I cannot express it enough: the writing opportunities that you provide are a GODSEND.
