Reverb: Writing Poems that Resonate

Writing Workshop in New Jersey
January 14-17, 2022
Led by J. C. Todd

Poetry Manuscript Workshop

How do we write a poem that reverberates with language, image, incident and sound? In this workshop, we’ll jump-start our work using strategies that access the associations stirring below the surface of conscious thought. Inspiring model poems, discussions about our writing processes and generative exercises will rouse us to write new poems or revise old pieces. Giving and receiving encouraging feedback will show us how our work resonates with other readers. Beginning and experienced writers welcome in this safe and supportive space.

*Limited to just 10 participants.*

“This conference is a gift. It permits a writer to take risks without concern for impressing or competing. It gave me the space to imagine and experiment. This is a community that is generous and encouraging while also being honest. A great relief.”
~ Amy, Poetry Workshop Participant

About

This writing workshop is part of the Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway, held each January. Peter E. Murphy started the Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway in 1994 based on his belief that when writers leave behind distractions to gather in an encouraging community, they will make breakthroughs in their art.

Celebrating its 32nd year, the Getaway is one of the oldest and largest writer's conferences in the winter season, attracting writers from across the globe.

"I cannot express it enough: the writing opportunities that you provide are a GODSEND. We are all so busy in our daily lives–working, caregiving for young and old, surviving our daily challenges–that to have an uninterrupted respite to write and speak only of the craft of writing for a whole weekend is bliss. I truly enjoyed the Winter Getaway and its supportive community." – Karen, Highland Park, NJ
