The Leaping Poem:
A Poetry Workshop
Writing Workshop in New Jersey
January 17-20, 2025
Led by Jan Beatty
Filled. Waitlist available. Learn more.
We’re all walking around with fascinating, untold stories in our bodies. How do we release this sense of discovery in a poem? As William Carlos Williams said: We need to trust that there is an organic, vibrant sense of language moving through us. In other words, we need to jump in, play and have fun. Through writing prompts and sample poems, you’ll focus on metaphor, juxtaposition and white space to create wild leaps and intuitive associations. You’ll share your writing in a welcoming and supportive space as you receive feedback. Please bring drafts or fragments of poems, or you may start something new. This workshop is open to writers of all levels.
*Limited to just 10 participants.*
“I had such a great time and left feeling exhausted and rejuvenated, with my luggage full of new poems, books and a renewed excitement. I’ve heard so many great things about the Getaway, but no praise equaled the experience.”
~ Stacey, Fresno, CA
