The Art of Compression:
A Short Fiction Workshop
Writing workshop in New Jersey
January 13-16, 2023
Led by Jade Jones
In this workshop, we will discuss the foundations of short fiction and what makes it so uniquely different from novel writing. We will examine a diversity of voices and styles from contemporary short story writers and consider key aspects of the genre—voice, plot, characterization and more. Through generative writing exercises, we will practice techniques to help you hone your skills using these craft elements. You are welcome to bring a work-in-progress or start something brand new. After we spend time writing, we will share our pieces in a supportive, productive environment. Beginning and experienced writers are welcome.
*Limited to just 10 participants.*
“What a great opportunity this is to escape into the world of writing for a long weekend, to work with award-winning poets and writers, to meet and network with other fellow writers and to just have a ripping good time. Kudos to everyone involved for another excellent conference!”
~ Bruce, Cherry Hill, NJ
